The Power Of Media?

. Saturday, April 26, 2014 .

Wait... what? Isn't this supposed to be a fashion blog?

Well yes, but fashion's in the media right?

You can see fashion as two different things:
1. It's an art. A wearable art that lets you express yourself the most easiest and unique way.
2. It's a product.

I'm going to talk about #2 (sounds funny).
What's the first thing you think when you listen to the word "product"? The first thing I think is: something I buy. A need. A thing people sell. The Industry.
Products come in many different ways, and the world is always trying to make you buy something. We're constantly thinking of what we need and the tools to achieve it. As the great Steve Jobs said once, to create a product you must first create a need–therefore, when you create something that doesn't exist it's easier to sell it because you don't have any competition rather than creating a new pencil...

The industries are constantly selling you things. As in the fashion world, there's always a new lipstick, a new shirt, a new shoe. Apparently buying all those new things make you prettier, more stylish, and super trendy. Yes, we all love being on trend, but sometimes it gets too much for our budgets and ourselves. We can't be desperate because we don't have the new IT bag, especially when the majority of us don't grow money on trees.
Life's about balance. I believe in fashion, but it's not my religion nor my cult. I can't be depressed because I don't have a closet full of Céline bags and Louboutins. Style isn't achieved by having the most expensive closet, nor beauty is achieved by having the latest anti-aging cream by Clarins.

Think about your needs and think wisely. If you lived all your life without it, damn sure you don't need it now. You can want things, but don't be desperate about it.

Love yourself, because media doesn't want to. They make you feel like shit in order for them to sell you a solution a.k.a. their product; buying 'x' product will guarantee you happiness.

But, where's all this buzz coming from?

Well two actors got me thinking...
Joseph Gordon-levitt and Ashton Kutcher.

Here's Joseph Gordon-levitt's video

and Ashton Kutcher MARVELOUS speech:

This one is just... perfect.

Remember:
Don't buy everything they sell you.
