Hola!
Recently Kate Upton has been announced the new face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and her with Bobbi have talked about what Pretty Powerful means and how we can achieve so many things by believing and loving ourselves–by being confident.
We all have insecurities, but we can't let them define us.
Hola!
Have you ever stopped at one of Bobbi Brown's stands and ask yourself: "What's all that pretty powerful stuff?" I thought the same thing, just another way to sell makeup.
How did I ran into Bobbi Brown? (as in the brand, not her. I wish), well Seventeen magazine was the start, then finally I saw a brand new stand at the mall and I got excited because I knew who she was and I immediately wanted something.
Later on, I started to know more about makeup and how it worked, YouTube is my bible and I thank every day to the gods of the internet and the beauty gurus for helping me work that out. At first, I thought people wore too much makeup and they only did it because they didn't feel good about their faces or because they were going to a party (I was way younger, don't worry I don't think that way anymore).
One day I looked up what Bobbi Brown's Pretty Powerful campaign really meant and I got fascinated by it and started to feel less guilty about wearing makeup, because of the misconceptions I mentioned before.
PRETTY POWERFUL CAMPAIGN consists on:
- Being who you are, the best version of yourself, and embracing it.
- Beauty comes from within, inner beauty is the key to feeling beautiful. "You are what you feel".
- Being confident as a key to success in any ambit of your life.
- Where do makeup comes in? well, makeup is for enhancing your beauty. To feel prettier than you already are.
I think Bobbi Brown is one of the few makeup brands if not the only one who actually sells confidence as a marketing tool. They are telling you that their products are just a plus to your already existing beauty, that there's nothing wrong with your face nor you have to change anything–just enhance it.
Personally, I'm a sucker for brand's philosophies and I think Bobbi did a great job of making Pretty Powerful hers. It's pretty empowering to have a makeup brand that loves women for how they are and it's not trying to change them into something they are not.

"I believe that confident and being comfortable is the secret to beauty" - Bobbi BrownI bet you're thinking "obviously she's a model, she's already beautiful that's so easy to being confident with her looks". Honestly, if you rely only on your looks to feel confident you are doomed to misery. Looks fade, and if you only valued yourself for it you are constantly going to thrive for this idea of "perfection" that simply doesn't exist and you are never going to fully love yourself for WHO YOU ARE.
We all have insecurities, but we can't let them define us.
With so much love,
Edda.
