The First And Last Fitness Conference I'll Go To

DISCLAIMER: The use of the word 'fat' is only used for shock value. By any means I'm using it as an insult. I don't like when people use the word to segregate others and diminish their value as a person because of how they look.

The 'Fitness' word it's a scary word. Specially when the concept that's been sold to us is that only those who can and are fitness are those people who spend hours at the gym and look like The Rock.
The Rock

I guess the only time I've felt welcomed to the Fitness lifestyle was with SaschaFitness, she doesn't segregate anyone. (If you want to know more about her, click here). Because it's no secret there's a club for fat haters in the world and suddenly when you try to become healthier you're mocked.

I'm very proud of SaschaFitness (specially as a fellow Venezuelan) of how slowly, but surely she's building her Fitness Empire. But most importantly, I'm proud of how she has made the Fitness Lifestyle an accesible one for anyone with a body and an interest to become more healthier.

On March 12th at the Miami Fillmore Theater, Sascha Barboza (A.K.A. SaschaFitness) held her conference called "Los Secretos De SaschaFitness" (SaschaFitness's Secrets). I was very eager to go and to finally see her. And to say the least, I was extremely pleased. It Succeeded my expectations.
I was a little heartbroken that I didn't get my book signed, but oh well I know the Universe will let me meet her one day.

Outside the theater they were selling her new launched product: an Isolate Whey Protein. I bought the Peanut Butter flavor and so far, so good. This is the first protein that's GOOD and that is TASTY. Because other protein powders I've tried are either hit or miss, or just that disgusting generic protein powder flavor.

Says "My Precious" whilst hugging the protein.

Her conference consists of how to achieve a Fitness lifestyle, here's a summary of my favorite points she made:

Approach Fitness as a lifestyle.

Fitness goes beyond having a ripped body, it's about having your body reach to its full potential. To give a 100% everyday. To have a body that won't betray you, a body that will work with you and FOR YOU.
It's transforming your body from a Toyota into a Ferrari.

STOP comparing yourself to others.

Everybody's journey is different. "Don't compare your behind the scenes to someone's highlight reel". Because all you see of people (and what they only show you) is the pretty successful face, they are never going to show you the sweat, blood, and tears it actually took them.
Focus only on yourself.

If you don't know what you are doing, GO TO A SPECIALIST.

In this day-and-age of Weight Watchers and detox juices, there's always going to be a new diet on the market "that's going to make you lose 10 pounds in a week". Every fool can make up a diet and sell it as the new IT thing. To see what I'm talking about, count how many weight-loss commercials you see in a day or walk into a bookstore and count how many "Celebrity weight-loss diets" are there. Hell! Even Cameron Diaz has a book on health.

I'm a victim of trying every diet on the book and what it got me was thyroid problems. The first thing you need to do to check on your health is to go to the Doctor to see how you are, you might have a hormonal problem and you don't even know about it! And if you plan to better your eating-habits, go to a nutritionist. Everyone's body is different, meaning we all need different things to work for ourselves.

"A solid building, begins with it's bricks" - Sascha Barboza

If your life expectancy is to live a long, plentiful life... My friend, I've got news for you: start taking care of your health. You can't expect to have a healthy life if you don't put the effort.

Habits, habits and habits.

Take a good look around your bad healthy habits and analyze when, where and what makes you go to them every time.
Habits are reversible. Try to change one at a time, don't go crazy changing all of them at once because you're not going to stick to them in the long term.

Lookin' good, doesn't mean feelin' good.

The myth that everyone who is slim is healthy is a lie. Yes, they don't gain weight, but there's also visceral fat inside our organs and don't forget our body has hormones that needs to be taken care of, e.g., blood pressure, and blood sugar.
You can have some extra pounds and be a healthy person! Health starts from the inside.

Be positive.

One single negative thought can trigger endless consequences of bad choices and self-pity. Remember, that [almost] everything has a solution. "If you don't like your arms, don't take them for granted! Be thankful that you have them to hold the ones you love! If you don't like the cellulite in your legs, be thankful you have both legs to run, walk, to transport yourself wherever you want to go! Everything else, has a solution. You have the tools to achieve whatever you set your mind to." - Sascha Barboza (SaschaFitness at the conference).

Anyone can be fitness.

Fitness is not for the muscle heads only, it's for those who want to reach the full potential of their bodies. To become Ferraris. Fitness is for everyone! You don't need to fit to an stereotype to be healthy. A healthy body comes in every shape and size.

The perfect balance between the mind and the body

Haven't you find yourself on those days where you feel mentally miserable and then your body becomes a drag too?
This lifestyle will make you feel better by a long run, I AM NOT SAYING IT'S GOING TO SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS, I'm saying that if you are healthy and taking better care of your body these will only bring positiveness to your life. When you find yourself giving a 100% every day because your body can take it because your mind said it would and it DID–you'll find yourself living a happier life.
